What is the best Video editing software in your opinion and why?

I just got adobe after effects and shortly after realized it’s not really meant for your typical video editing, cutting and etc. So now i am thinking about Adobe Premiere elements or cyberlink powerdirector or whatever. Anyways, those are my prospects so far. help out and tell me what your favorite video editing software is, and your reasons why. It would be hugely helpful. Thanks!!

CyberLink PowerDirector

My experience is mpeg video wizard edited my mpeg files perfectly with minimal fuss and effort.

Ulead works OK but introduces a video/audio sync error (about 1 sec audio delay).

The Adobe product is one of the most sophisticated video editing software and it requires a pretty steep learning curve. Many professionals use Adobe but unless your home movie is going to the next Sundance festival,I wouldn’t spring for it.

I personally quite like CPD ,although it is a bit heavy on the system. For faster processing I use Womble MPEG Video Wizard.
